According to US Best News, volunteering has become a bigger factor than most think for medical schools when it comes to admissions. “Doing volunteer work in a health care setting shows a student has tried to understand what it’s like to have a career in medicine before committing to medical school.” Therefore, as the Penn Pre-Medical Association, we strive to get our students involved in the community around us.
Below are some starting points for looking for volunteer work. The board has contacted the volunteer coordinators for these organizations, which are familiar with the Penn Pre-Medical Association.
Keep in mind that there are applications for most of the volunteer programs, some of which have certain logistical requirements that need to be finished before you apply. The earlier you start looking into them the better!
