About the ClubThe Penn Pre-Medical Association was founded in 2009 by combining the John Morgan Pre-Health Society (JMPHS) and Penn’s chapter of the American Medical Student Association (AMSA) —two former student-run, pre-professional groups at Penn. We are an organization that strives to meet the needs of the pre-med students at Penn. From speaker events to physician shadowing programs, we hold various events throughout the academic year to provide opportunities for our members to experience the field of health care.

What We Do

PPMA is also affiliated with The Princeton Review, which offers exclusive discounts and activities (such as practice MCAT exams) to members of the organization.

Physician ShadowingEvery semester, we connect students from our organization to physicians affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania. Students then take the initiative to schedule, organize, and communicate with their matched physician in order to maximize their personal shadowing experience.

Coffee ChatsSince Spring 2018, general members can sign up to have a coffee chat with one of the current board members. Conversation topics range from research and volunteering plans, class scheduling, MCAT studying, and more! Fill out this form in order to schedule one.

The Princeton ReviewPPMA has an exclusive connection with Princeton Review that allows us to offer students discounts on MCAT materials, as well as organize and plan special events. For example, in Spring 2019, we hosted a practice MCAT exam right on Penn's campus!

Clinics & Other EventsIn addition to MCAT resources, Princeton Review has connections with the US Army that allow PPMA to organize special clinic events. Previous clinics include a suturing clinic, IV clinic, and first aid clinic.
Furthermore, PPMA hosts other unique events every semester. In the SY 2018-2019, PPMA organized two events that invited Deaf guests to talk about Deaf culture in healthcare. We also help with setting up Virtual Study Groups for all your pre-med classes! Reach out to us about the upcoming Slack and interest form! |
Our Statement in Solidarity
with the BLM movement
As an organization, we acknowledge and grieve the recent events against African Americans that have exposed the systemic racism plaguing our country. Because of this inequality, countless lives have been lost without mercy, including those of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Tony McDade. PPMA has always stood in support of diversity and equality for all within the Penn community, regardless of background and identity. We recognize that racism continues to persist, evident not only in the medical community but throughout the world. PPMA stands in solidarity and support of the Black community and for all those taking action against injustice.
